OK was I really flipped out with what happened in this episode. I KNEW Sloane would turn, but on his own daughter and with not much emotion even. Poor Mia I thought she might be in a few more episodes than just the 1. But I did love the scene with Jack and Nadia (the commercial plug). Not sure how I feel about Renee yet tho. Everybody else? ?

The ABC board is talking a lot about the Hybrid plug. Almost as heavy handed as the F-150 plug of Season 3.
This was really the first episode where Renee had a real connection to the audience. I think her accent makes her so hard to understand and feel the "acting" emotion in her voice, but last night I thought she had a chance to shine. I was shocked that they killed her but since she never connected with audiences it isnt a big loss.
Now Nadia was a shock. I thought she would go in the last 2 episodes but as some have pointed out she is listed as a guest star in future episodes and the finale. HMMM?

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I got a phone call in the middle of the episode from a friend who needed to vent, so I let the VCR do its work and decided to watch it when things weren't so hectic.....and that turned out to be yesterday afternoon. Almost three days later. Does that make me a bad Alias fan?
Anyway. Was infuriated by the Ford [not to be confused by any other] Hybrid commercial they made my man Victor do. (I felt as embarrassed for him as I felt for Lawrence Olivier when he used to do those Kodak commercials years ago. What if L.O. had had to do a plug in the 'drilling scene' from Marathon Man?? : "Tell me. Is it safe?.....and do you use Kodak cameras to capture the moments of your life?" I mean, really.)
The scenes in which the characters deal with the mission at hand usually work, but the writing on the 'family togetherness scenes' is just downright corny. I could almost visualize a 13-yr-old girl with a school spiral jotting down the dialogue. So sugary it almost made me break out with acne. And the awkward scene where distraught Sloane tells Jack that he wasn't trying to kill Nadia, he was trying to cure her......It was like a scene from General Hospital!
But there were the high moments. Jack and Marshall and the 'visual aids'....these guys should take their act on the road. And the blood. My stars, the blood! And the cool little effects that I missed the first time.....like the Rambaldi symbol showing up on the burning Page 47. And the blood! And then I found myself wondering if Happy and Doc were babysitting baby Isabelle again. And the blood! Shocking turn-of-events. And did I mention the blood? What does it all mean? And who's gonna clean up all that blood??!!
All life-giving essences aside, I found the Sloane-defection very satisfying. It felt like the old days, watching Ron be all creepy and whatnot. And when Jack told Nadia that Sloane was not all the family she had. Nice. Sweet throwaway line?....or foreshadowing?
I know my remarks were all over the place today, but that kinda captures how I felt as I watched the episode 1 1/2 times. The clock is winding down for Alias, and I hope that the good continues to gain ground on the bad as all this plays out. Can you believe that there are only 3 more nights of Alias??
